So when COVID 19-related shut downs brought in-person events to a grinding halt, we leveraged our organic storytelling chops with our innovative technical know-how to help private, public and non-profit outfits reach their people across this “stay at home” world we’re living in.

The Set Up 

COVID 19 shutdowns sent Facebook Inc. worldwide into full-on “work from home”/ “no in-person events” mode. But how do you keep Facebook Inc., and all its newly mandated distributed units running smoothly if you can’t interface with the thousands of vendors that move billions of goods and services for hundreds of billions of dollars through the system?

You do a moonshot virtual event that leverages the hacker spirit of the Silicon Valley giant to overcome the once-in-a-century pandemic.

The Action

Picture+Sound combined clean and safe in-person productions on the campus of Facebook and around Silicon Valley with an array of high-end cinematic CamDropBox deployed solutions to give a seamless and elegant touch to a very complicated national production.

THE PAYOFF

From New York, New York to Menlo Park, California; Chicago Illinois to Englewood Colorado, Picture+Sound pulled off a cutting-edge in-person/virtual hybrid production of a very high order.

From a collection Facebook C-suite pieces, to personal and unique vendor journey stories, Facebook was thrilled at Picture+Sound’s creative innovation, tireless work ethic and easy bedside manor that yielded 12 deep-dive docu-style promos on a crazy-fast timeline, in… um...sub-optimal production conditions.

The Set Up 

With a slate of incredible speakers including author and activist Gloria Steinen, former Secretary of State General Colin Powell, author and wunderkind Malcolm Gladwell, science guy Bill Nye, and Presidential Historian and Author Jon Meacham the ASU GSV Summit had to go off without a hitch. And then COVID. So what then?

The Action

Shift everything virtual, but keep it big, and of the highest production value, while creating an organic intimacy and a virtual presence. Picture+Sound’s furiously fast turnaround on this high-stakes opening for both the first ever virtual Power of Women’s Luncheon and the attendant ASU GSV Summit Awards Ceremony.

The Set Up 

Deep into the COVID pandemic, non-profit benefactor and community stalwart FIRC. 

The community was reeling from the shockwaves. Everything shut down. Record unemployment and the FIRC’s, typically abundant resources quickly running dry.

The Action

We worked with FIRC’s dynamic internal marketing team to design and produce a first of its kind show - A “by us for us” show that reunited a community isolated by quarantines and stay at home mandates with each other in a cathartic release.

Replete and local celebrities/perennial hosts Matt and Kelly Renoux, Picture+Sound  quickly reimagined the event for an online audience -- “Make it familiar and intimate, yet simultaneously bigger, bolder and fresher than ever before.” 

Picture+Sound created: 

  • Folksy community messaging

  • Commercials and promos,

  • Llive stream assets, 

  • Technical infrastructure and support

  • So we simulcast the 90 minute, fun-filled extravaganza on regional TV to assure maximum reach and impact. 

THE PAYOFF

TV’s, computer screens, OTT’s and mobile devices brought the livestream/broadcast to four times as many people than ever before. But record-breaking, and data-laden viewership that cemented FIRC’s recognition and attendant community value was only the beginning. When the world needed them most, FIRC doubled their total donations and got that money to a community in desperate need. With more free meals delivered, covered rents, and free health care, the payoff to families was priceless.

The Set Up 

Wunder Health ordered up a bigger and better version of what Picture+Sound had done for them in previous years of their high-energy events:

Live experiences, sponsor commercials, panel discussions, a suite of deep-dive video interviews, mini-docustyle promos and short films, Wunder brand and show theme-centric bespoke augmented and virtual reality experiences, 360 video roundtable livestreams and more.

And then…COVID. As in very early days-wash-your-Instacart-delivered-groceries-in-the-front-yard-before-it-comes-in-the-house-early days of COVID 19.

The courage of their founding team to cut a 3 day live event that had grown 5x per year in the previous years was not unsubstantial.

Converting a 3 day event into a virtual summit replete with roundtable discussions, 1-on-1 interviews, break out sessions, sponsor-led sessions, brand interstitials and commercials and more is never a small task. To do linking dozens of on-camera talent, just getting used to digital interfacing was…. tricky tough.

The Action

Picture+Sound live-streamed the two-day, all-day online event with custom-tailored free and paywalled tiers. 

Within the show itself Picture+Sound supplied show design, prep, programming and pre-production, brand interstitials, live technical directing, tech and content creation, a flashy brand anthem commercial, a WunderHealth brand podcast and more.

Additionally, in order for WunderHealth to truly have a visceral and tangible connection with its audience, Wunder Box -- a custom-built, key sponsor product-infused gift box -- was created and sent via snail mail to key participants after the show.

THE PAYOFF

WunderHealth absolutely rocked it. People from across the globe logged onto this  fun-filled, feel-good, tear-jerker of a soul-shining event. 

A health and wellness online university, spawned by the exchange and excitement of the 2020 WunderHealth Virtual Summit is one of many collateral benefits of the online event.
