JC
Picture+Sound produced a daring and groundbreaking cinematic vision of William Shakespeare's political thriller "Julius Caesar"; but differed from the Bard’s famous play in one key area - this time Portia, the wife of Brutus the backstabber took center stage. Even with the surprise notoriety and exposure of the source material of a highly controversial Shakespeare in the Park staging of the classic play by New York City’s Public Theater, selling a hybrid documentary, stylized cinematography and organic visual effects-laden film was no small task.
The Set Up
JC, shot on location in Los Angeles California and Edinburgh, Scotland with an international cast and crew, had its bona fides. The film also showcased groundbreaking organic visual effects, and featured a sitting president as a featured player. But it was a multiverse retelling of William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, so selling it to audiences outside the UK was... tricky.
